Electricity keeps tripping !
Help !. Does anybody know an electrician who can upgrade our electricity please ? when we bought, 6 months ago, the previous owner arranged to have the electricity 'downgraded' to the basic 3.5. apparently, for a Julia, 3 bedrooms, it needs to be 5 +.
If we have 2/3 high powered electrical items on, it trips . Also, is it a big job ? does it have to be approved by the Town Hall lot ? thanks for any info. Previous owner said someone would do it for a bottle of wine !
P.s. Yes! I am sure you could get an illegal upgrade (to 5.75) done for a bottle of wine (plus the cost of a bigger trip). This would probably be ok until Iberdrola come along and fit a new smart meter, because once this is in place, it will only allow 3.3 kw into the house, regardless of what size trip you have in your consumer unit.
Hi Geoff,
thanks v much for your info - much appreciated. Yes, please, can you let us have the name and details of an electrician. We live in England, but , every so often we fly over and stay in the villa, so the job isn't urgent at the mo,
Thanks Sue

There are others who will offer to do it cheaper, but you can trust Tony, and he is reliable.

Thanks Geoff, I've just emailed Tony. Your email has been a great help - thanks again ! All the best.
Upgrading from 3.3 kw to 5.75 kw (which is what you need to do) could be quite expensive. Before Iberdrola will allow an upgrade, you will need to be in possession of a 'boletin'. This is a certificate issued by a person qualified to do so, and it basically certifies that the installation complies with the latest Spanish regulations. It is often necessary to have to do quite a lot of extra wiring and fit extra trips and new sockets etc, before the boletin can be issued. If you want, I can give you the number of an electrician who can give you a quote for everything you need, including registering the boletin with Iberdrola.
